Norway, Trondheim
Over the clouds it's always sunny, but once the plane started to land, that's when things started to get grey. After sunny France, Copenhagen and Stockholm, grey Trondheim was literally a breath of fresh air, as I had forgotten what cold was. For a couple of days or so, the weather was rainy and coldish, which enabled me to wear the few warm clothes I had packed for 'just in case'.
My friend took me to one of the coolest restaurants I've ever been to: it's in a tower, it also spinned so you had an incredible view of the town and the sea.
I went to a Norwegian party right on my first night, it was really nice, people were really cool and friendly but I spent most of the time talking to two French girls there. Gotta love them Frenchies! Also, I need to practise my French lol
The house where the party took place was amazing! They had a nice piano and a ball pit by the window! The hosts were just too cool...
There's a really charming cobbled street in Trondheim, with colourful little houses and hipsters everywhere, close to the bridge gate. We went to a coffee shop (not the dutch kind, mind you), where I tried some kind of chilly coffee and a delicious cheesecake.
The Nidaros Cathedral is really gorgeous from the outside, but it's even more gorgeous from the inside! Too bad they don't allow you to take pictures (even though I sneaked some teehee), really worthwhile to visit its interior! One of the most beautiful stained glass windows I've seen. And I've seen some!
We went to a bar and I got to see a little bit of the nightlife in Trondheim.
Norwegian people are nice, but very reserved...but since I haven't met many, I am not sure...(about the reserved part!)
The beach is really different from what I'm used to in Brazil, of course. No sand, just stones on the shore and no waves. Still, nice! (except for the annoying seaweeds).
However...
We went to Munkholmen, an old monastery that was also a prison during the nazi occupation, which is in a little island close to the city. And the beach there had little waves and sand! I liked it a lot, lots of Norwegians go there when the weather is good to have picnics, sunbathe, etc. In order to get there you need to take a boat, so obviously to come back you need the boat as weel, so sometimes there's a big line to take the boat back to the town.
I loved biking there, it's basically my first time biking in a real town in Europe, because the village where I used to live in France was like the world's butthole so it doesn't count.
The low point of my stay there was the fact that one day my friend decided to propose two paths to go back home, one with a hill but shorter and another without the hill but longer. Of course I prefer the longer but without hills! Who the fuck wouldn't? But then I decided to go to the uphill path, because I thought he meant one or two slopes, not the whole fucking way back! All the way back was a slope and I had no idea, I was so fucking mad at him for even suggesting such a ridiculous path. I was biking through all the slopes on the way thinking that at some point that shit would end, but no! It never did..so much for a trampe bicycle lift..
We also went to the natural history museum, where I saw a huge stuffed moose as well as a tiger. Is the plural of moose meese?
I got to know two cities actually, one when it's grey and cold and another when it's hot and sunny
I had no sleep on the day I had to fly to Germany, because it was an early flight. Bummer, BUT! I got to see one of the most incredible sunrises of my life on my way to the airport :)
